This private tour takes you via Corinth Canal to Peloponnese. Continue to Diakopto, from where you will take the cog railway, a unique train ride via Vouraikos Gorge to Kalavryta. Continue by car to the majestic Cave of Lakes. Time for Lunch, explore Kalavryta village (visit Holocaust Museum). Next we visit the unique Monastery of Agia Lavra connected with the Greek Independence War. Your return from Kalavryta to Athens, it will be by car, so will see another view of the Vouraikos Gorge and we will have the chance to visit the Monastery of Mega Spileo, the oldest in Peloponnese.

Corinth Canal

Follow the scenic coastal road to Corinth canal. We will stop at the Corinth canal with its breathtaking views (walk on the bridge, which is the highest point of the canal). The marvelous man-made Corinth canal connecting the Aegean and Ionian seas, as well as the Peloponnese peninsula with the central part of Greece. 

Continue to Diakopto, which is situated on the Gulf of Corinth, near the mouth of the Vouraikos river and at the lower end of the Vouraikos Gorge. From Diakopto train station you will take this unique rack rail way train to Kalavryta.

KALAVRYTA - ΚΑΛΑΒΡΥΤΑ
Cog Train

It is one of the most beautiful natural sights plus one of the most spectacular railway rides. The little train travels through streams, climbing the majestic narrow Vouraikos gorge, up into the mountains, through bridges and tunnels, over waterfalls, along cliffs and through forest of pine and oak trees. When the incline gets really steep it switches form regular track to a cog system.

CAVE LAKES
Kalavryta, Cave Lakes

​Kalavryta a popular traditional mountain village & ski resort. Visit Holocaust  Museum (the killing of the male population of Kalavryta on 10 December 1943).

The Cave of the Lakes, is located near the village Kastria. It is 17 km from Kalavryta. The cave is an old subterranean river consisting of three levels. During the winter when the snow melts it is transformed into a flowing river with waterfalls. During the summer, it dries up, leaving behind 13 lakes.

AGIA LAVRA
Agia Lavra, Mega spileo

Agia Lavra is a monastery near Kalavryta. It was built in 961 AD, on Chelmos Mountain, at an altitude of 961 meters, and can be described as the symbolic birthplace of modern Greece. 

The monastery Mega Spileo is located in a large cave in a sheer cliff, where the western slopes of Mount Chelmos drop down to the gorge of the Vouraikos river. According to tradition, the monastery is one of the oldest in Greece, reputedly founded in 362
